File Manager

The filemanager is an alternate way of copying, deleting, uploading or moving files to your website instead of using an ftp program. You can get to the filemanager by clicking File Manager from the main menu, you will then be taken into the filemanager and out of the normal control panel screen. Along the top and bottom of the screen will be the options for creating, uploading etc and a handy function for finding files.

Uploading a File

clicking on upload will bring up an option at the bottom, it will say where you are currently going to be uploading to and how to transfer the file (Auto will detect the type of file you are uploading and choose the correct format). clicking browse will open up a box for you to select the file(s) off of your harddrive. Select the file(s) you would like to transfer and click upload. Depending on the size of the file(s) you will then be met with the same screen but you should see that the file is now in your sites directory and at the bottom the status will say 'file XXX was uploaded in auto mode'. You have successfully uploaded a file to your website. Please note that the folder you need to upload to is: /public_html/ OR /sitename/html/ (the first is just a shortcut to the second) any CGi/Perl scripts will need to be placed in the /CGI-BIN/

Deleting a File/Folder

Please note that deleting is _permenant_ you will not be able to recover the file unless you have a site backup or a copy of the file elsewhere. First you will need to decide what file(s) or folder(s) need to be removed and tick each checkbox for the files. When you tick a box the background behind the file and details will darken so you can distinguish what files have been selected. when you are sure of the files/folders you would like to delete then click delete along the bottom command bar. You will then be asked via a messagebox to confirm your deletion of these files, Ok will delete them and cancel will stop the deletion. Once you have deleted the file the status will update itself with 'X files and X Directories removed' and you will notice that the file is no longer on the site.

Siteworx will report the status back with 'XXXXX Directory has been created' and you should see it in the main window.

Check the box on the file(s) or folder(s) that you would like to edit and select chmod from the bottom toolbar. This will bring up the options for file at the bottom. You have the option of entering the numeric code eg 777 or you can change the individual permissions using the tickboxes. Once you have selected permissions click chmod and siteworx will apply the changes which will be viewable in the main screen at the end of the filename. For details on what these permissions mean check out http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&lr=&q=chmod+commands
